Sinfulness is a condition, not a decision. How our condition “breaks out” is guided by our circumstances, surroundings, and dumb decisions…but it is a CONDITION nonetheless.
As I ponder this on the morning of Thanksgiving, my heart gives thanks for the One Who guided my circumstances, stood with me in crazy surroundings, and calmed the storms caused by my own dumb decisions- enough for me to hear the still, small voice of the only Cure for my condition.
Lord knows- I still have “Break-outs”, but they are now mild symptoms of a disease He is working to cleanse me from daily.
Before we judge the more extreme ways that this condition can break out in a person’s lifestyle and behavior, we should keep in mind that it is a condition we share; just perhaps with different symptoms.
Hypocricy is one patient judging another patient just cuz their symptoms are different; love is one patient finding the Cure to their shared disease and doing everything they can to administer that Cure to the guy in the bed next to them.
I believe that the length to which I will go to introduce this Cure to others DEFINES my thankfulness. If I were to keep this Cure to myself- or just sheepishly mention it to others when it’s comfortable to do so, then I suppose my finding of Christ would just be the greatest selfish thing I ever did.
